The Heavens Declare
2019 Winter Conference at Reformation Bible College

  • Monday, Jan 21, 2019 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM EST

From the majesty of the sunset to the beauty of the stars, the whole world declares the glory of God. Yet despite this fact, humanity chooses to suppress the truth about our Creator's manifest glory. Christians, their eyes being opened, have a unique perspective on the world, for they know that creation is a reflection of our great God. This conference will consider how God reveals Himself in nature, what that means for our culture, and how we can apply this knowledge as Christians.

Registration includes admission to all sessions and access to a mini-bookstore with special conference pricing for select titles.

Online registration will close at 5:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, January 16. At the door registration will open at 7:45 a.m. ET on Monday, January 21.

7:45—8:45 a.m. — Registration Opens

9:00—9:50 a.m. — Session 1: No Mute Facts with Stephen Nichols

General revelation points us to God, and therefore everything we encounter in his world—every fact—cries out that there is a Creator. Contrary to the worldviews that deny God's existence and insist that reality does not or cannot point to a Creator, the Christian worldview acknowledges that creation is a road sign to God. This session will explain how God's creation points us to Him.

9:50—10:45 a.m. — Session 2: The Sense of the Divine with Sinclair Ferguson

Humans are born with the innate sense that God exists. John Calvin describes this as the sensus divinitatis, or "sense of divinity." Scripture corroborates this idea, and this session will describe how we are to understand our faith and the world in relation to our innate sense of the divine.

10:45—11:15 a.m. — Bookstore Break

11:15 a.m.—12:00 p.m. — Workshops:

  • John Owen and General Revelation with John Tweeddale — This workshop will explain how John Owen thought about and applied the knowledge he had of general revelation.
  • The Psalms and General Revelation with Keith Mathison — This workshop will consider how the Psalms inform our doctrine of general revelation.
  • Paul and General Revelation with David Briones — This workshop will consider Paul's speech to the Athenians in Acts 17 and what this passage of Scripture can tell us about general revelation.

12:00—1:30 p.m. — Lunch Break — Lunch may be purchased at two on-site food trucks or at any local restaurant.

1:30—2:15 p.m.

2:30—3:30 p.m. — Session 3: Suppressing the Truth with Albert Mohler

Scripture tells us that people suppress the truth in unrighteousness—that our sin blinds us to the reality of God and His righteousness. This session will describe the ways that we suppress the truth in our culture and how Christians can stand for the truth in our context.

3:30—4:00 p.m. — Bookstore Break

4:00—5:00 p.m. — Session 4 : Q&A with Sinclair Ferguson, Albert Mohler, Stephen Nichols
